I shot this series on a trip from Seattle to the Midwest, just after Christmas two years ago.

My last trip on a train, of any length, was when I was 15 years old. That was some years ago.

This time, the trip was with my own kids, who were 11 and 14 years old. The girl in Guitar Girl, is my daughter, Natalie.

My emotions on the trip involved the nostalgia for my childhood; my hope that my kids were experiencing something they would remember fondly when they grow older; and the reality of an adult traveling for two days in cramped quarters on trains that malfunctioned.
